Sri Lankan Team Attacked in Pak, 6 Players Injured. Tour Canceled

Six Sri Lankan players has been injured in a shocking terror attack by unidentified gunmen who opened fire on the bus carrying Sri Lankan team to Gadaffi stadium in Lahore on Tuesday, 3rd March, for the 3rd day's play of the 2nd test match.

Chaminda Vaas, Thilan Samaraweera, Kumar Sangakkara, Ajantha Mendis, Thilan Thusara and Tharanga Paranavitana are amongst the players who got injured, while captain Mahila Jayawardhane and top spinner Muralitharan received minor injuries.




At least 6 security men and two civilians are killed by the masked gunman around Liberty Market near Gaddafi stadium in Lahore.



About 12 masked gunmen attacked the team bus armed with rockets, grenades and AK-47s.

Injured players discharged from hospitals and team has been taken to a safe location.

Pakistan sports ministry aplogised Sri Lankan government but tour has been called off and team will fly back to Colombo via Abu Dhabi, and its very difficult for any games to be held in Pakistan including 2011 World Cup.
