Pak v SL 1st ODI Result - Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 36 runs in 1st ODI
Sri Lanka comfortably beat Pakistan in a low scoring 1st ODI by 36 runs on on Thursday, 30th July, 2009 at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium to take a 1-0 lead in 5 match series. SL made 232/9 in 50 overs and Pak scored 196 all out in 44.4 overs.Sri Lanka invited to bat 1st, reduced to 131/6 in 33 overs but Mathews and Muralitharan contributed 43 and 32 runs respectively to take the total to 232 in 50 overs. Debutant Mohammad Aamer took 3 wickets.
Pakistan started as usual and reduced to 134/8 in 37 runs but some late entertainment by Gul and debutant Aamer took the score to 196 runs. Murali took 3 wickets for 29 runs and grabbed Man of the Match award.
