PAK v SL 1st Test Result - Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 50 runs on 4th day

In a dramatic turnaround host Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 50 runs in the first test match on the 4th day morning which visitors supposed to win comfortably at Galle International Stadium on Tuesday, 7th July, 2009.

Pakistan were comfortably placed on 71/2 at the stumps of day 3 needed 97 more runs to win the match but on 4th day the7 reduced to 85/7 in 20 overs and finally bowled out 0n 117 runs thanks to fine bowling by Sri Lankan bowlers. Rangana Herath were the pick of the bowler took 4 wickets for just 15 runs in 11.3 overs well supported by Tushara and Mendis took 2 wickets each.

Sri Lanka now taken a lead of 1-0 in 3 match series and has a good chance to win the series, which they never done against Pakistan at home.

Sri Lanka 1st Inning - 292 all out in 81 overs (Paranavitana 72, Aamer 3/74)

Pakistan 1st Inning - 342 all out in 94 overs (Yusuf 112, Kulasekara 4/71)

Sri Lanka 2nd Inning - 217 all out in 56.2 overs (Paranavitana 49, Aamer 3/38)

Pakistan 2nd Inning - 117 all out in 44.3 overs (Herath 4/15, Tushara 2/21)

Toss - Pakistan, who chose to field first.

Man of the Match - Rangana Herath (Sri Lanka)

Result - Sri Lanka won by 50 runs.

Series - Sri Lanka led the 3 match series by 1-0.
