NZ v SL 2nd Test Result - Sri Lanka won by 97 runs, won series by 2-0

In an entertaining 2nd test match Sri Lanka beat New Zealand by 97 runs on the 5th and final day of the match and made a clean sweep of the 2 match series by 2-0 on Sunday, 30th August, 2009.

Daniel Vettori made a brilliant century in the 2nd inning brought back them into the match but he was short with partners and last man out on 140 runs. Rangana Herath took 5 wickets and helped Sri Lanka to make a clean sweep.

Mahela Jayawardhane got Man of the Match for his innings of 92 and 96 runs while Thilan Samarweera got Man of the Series award.

Sri Lanka 1st Inning -416 all out in 130.3 overs (Jayawardhane 92, Samarweera 143, Patel 4-78)

New Zealand 1st Inning -234 all out in 77.4 overs (Taylor 81, Herath 3-70)

Sri Lanka 2nd Inning -311/5 dec. in 85.2 overs (Sangakkara 109, Jayawardhane 96)

New Zealand 2nd Inning -397 all out in 123.5 overs (Vettori 140, Oram 56, Herath 5-139)

Result - Sri Lanka won by 97 runs.
