Sri Lanka reached 2nd spot in the ICC test ranking and to retain the position they have to win this match. Tilakratne Dilshan is in great form at the top and Samarweera in the middle. Angelo Mathew is out due to injury and left arm spinner Rangana Herath will replace him.

New Zealand have to win this match in order to level the series and they need good performance from Jesse Ryder, Ross Taylor and Brandon McCullum. Daryl Tuffy, who returned from ICL will replace O'Brien.
