Sri Lanka is looking clear favorite after successfully defended modest 232 in 1st ODI. Muralitharan done well after return from injury but their batting has to improve.

Pakistan, I think don't want to come thier dream victory in T20 against Sri Lanka and after that the have not won a single match against same opponent. Aamer has done well on his debut but their batting is really a worry.

Sri Lanka comfortably beat Pakistan in a low scoring 1st ODI by 36 runs on on Thursday, 30th July, 2009 at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium to take a 1-0 lead in 5 match series. SL made 232/9 in 50 overs and Pak scored 196 all out in 44.4 overs.

Sri Lanka invited to bat 1st, reduced to 131/6 in 33 overs but Mathews and Muralitharan contributed 43 and 32 runs respectively to take the total to 232 in 50 overs. Debutant Mohammad Aamer took 3 wickets.

Pakistan started as usual and reduced to 134/8 in 37 runs but some late entertainment by Gul and debutant Aamer took the score to 196 runs. Murali took 3 wickets for 29 runs and grabbed Man of the Match award.

Sri Lanka missed a record run chase in the 4th inning of a test as they didn't push a little extra as the 3rd and final test against Pakistan drawn as both captain agrred with 15 overs left in the match and Sri Lanka needed 101 runs while Pakistan required 6 wickets on Friday, 24th July, 2009 at Colombo.

Sri Lanka required 309 runs on the final day and they started positively as Sangakkara hit his 19th test century with unbeaten 130 runs and put 122 runs with Samarweera (73 runs) and then unbeaten 114 runs with Methews.

Pakistan bowlers didn't got any help from the pitch and got only 1 wicket on the final day. Sri Lanka won the 3 match series by 2-0. Kumara Sangakkara got Man of the match while Kulasekara got Man of the Series award.

Shoib Malik hit a brilliant unbeaten century 106 not out on the 3rd day of third and final test and took Pakistan out of trouble when the reduced 67/4 and put 119 runs for the 5th wicket with Misbah 65 runs, and then 114 unbeaten partnership with Kamran Akmal 60*. They have a great opportunity to win this match with a total of 366 runs lead and 5 wickets in hand and 2 days remaining in this teast,

3rd Test 2nd day Summary:

Danish Kaneria, in his come back match took 5 wickets for 62 runs and helped Pakistan takes 66 runs 1st inning lead as they bowled our Sri Lanka on 233 runs. Only Jayawardhane made half century with 79 runs. Pakistan were 16/1 in the 2nd inning at the stump of day 2 with the total lead of 82 runs.

Pakistan proved they are really unpredictable after turnaround on day 2 with 178/1 they collapsed again from 285/1 to 320 all out, lost 9 wickets for just 35 runs and then lost the 2nd test and the series toSri Lanka on Tuesday, 14th July, 2009 at P Sara Stadium, Colombo. Sri Lanka won the 3 match series by 2-0 as 3rd and final test will begins from 20th July, 2009.

Pakistan started the 3rd day from 178/1 very well as Fawad Alam dream run continued as he reached 150 mark well supported by captain Younis Khan with 82 runs to take the score to 285 but as captain out entire team bowled out on 320 runs as the lost 35 runs for 9 wickets. Fawad Alam scored 168 runs on his debut match. Kulasekara and Herath too 4 and 5 wickets respectively.

Sri Lanka chasing a modest target of 171 runs, successfully chased thanks to opener Warnapra hit 54 runs and Sangakkara 46 runs with the loss of 3 wickets.

Pakistan made a great come back in the 2nd inning of 2nd test after bowled out on 90 runs, they restricted Sri Lanka to 240 runs then scored 178/1 and take a lead of 28 runs with 9 wickets in hand on Monday, 13th July, 2009 at Colombo.

Fawad Alam made a brilliant century on his debut match with unbeaten 102 runs, 10th Pakistani batsman to do it and become first Pakistani batsman to hit a test ton on debut away from home and put 85 runs for the 1st wicket with Khurram Manzoor and the 95 runs unbeaten partnership with captain Younis Khan.

Earlier they bowled out Sri Lanka on 240 and restrict the lead to 150 runs thanks to superb bowling by Saeed Ajmal and Umar Gul took 4 wickets each.

Second test match between Pakistan and host Sri Lanka will be played from Sunday, 12th July to Thursday, 16th July, 2009 at P Sara Oval, Colombo from 10:00 local, 04:30 GMT, 11.00 Pakistan time. Sri Lanka leading the 3 match test series by 1-0 after a dramatic 50 runs win in the 1st test.

Sri Lanka won the 1st test dramatically from the mouth of defeat as their bowlers took 8 wickets for just 46 runs on the 4th day. Regular keeper Prasanna Jayawardane might return in the team, missed first test due to injury and give relief to Dilshan who had done extra responsibility of keeping. Star spinner Muraltharan will likely to miss second test also.

Pakistan's batting was criticized after unexpected loss due to batting collapse in the 2nd inning after they take 50 runs lead in the 1st inning and failedto chase modes 168 runs and lost the match by 50 runs. In a dramatic turnaround host Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 50 runs in the first test match on the 4th day morning which visitors supposed to win comfortably at Galle International Stadium on Tuesday, 7th July, 2009.

Pakistan were comfortably placed on 71/2 at the stumps of day 3 needed 97 more runs to win the match but on 4th day the7 reduced to 85/7 in 20 overs and finally bowled out 0n 117 runs thanks to fine bowling by Sri Lankan bowlers. Rangana Herath were the pick of the bowler took 4 wickets for just 15 runs in 11.3 overs well supported by Tushara and Mendis took 2 wickets each.

Sri Lanka now taken a lead of 1-0 in 3 match series and has a good chance to win the series, which they never done against Pakistan at home.
